Quest VR Walk Through
Post originally from Drew Monahan
Love this app. I am trying to physically walk a whole floor instead of teleporting and the model opacity drops to 25% ish. I tried turning off the boundary and locking my position. Is there a setting to stop this from doing that? I am in an open 50,000 sq/ft warehouse...
Lock Model View in AR Seems Buggy
Post originally from Aaron Nordstrom
I think a hard lock would be helpful. It’s frustrating to spend time remaking the room you are in and then I accidently move the entire scene. I haven’t tried this with multiple users, but I can see it going south very quickly if people in the meeting have the ability to move this accidentally. Maybe...
How to Import OBJ and MTL
Post originally from Espen Færavaag da Silva
I figured it out! MTL files only tell you where to find the textures, they don’t actually include the textures. I needed to adjust the export settings of Blender (my preferred 3D editor) by setting “path mode” to “copy” to actually create duplicates of the textures in the exported directory.
Baked Map from Unity
Post originally from 3desart
Hello, I’m loving Arkio! I have a doubt: When I import a scene from Unity, it comes without the Baked map! The textures come without the shadows created in Unity! Is there any way to resolve this?
What Are These Cyan Cylinders?
Post originally from Qwert
What are these cyan cylinders that are floating around, and how can I remove them? My moving pointer is snapped on them, so it’s difficult to move around them.
Importing OBJ File, Can You Override Axis?
Post originally from Jonathan Spence
Hey there, I have exported an OBJ file from Sketchup and brought it into Arkio via the cloud, however the axis seems to have flipped. Ie the x or y axis seems to be the Z axis with the Obj file coming in sideways. Is there a way to override the axis of an import?
Texture Channels
Post originally from Devin Sloan
Hello, I have found virtually no documentation about how texturing works. As far as I understand you just upload a texture file with your model and it applies it. Is this limited to a single texture channel? Can we do bumps or reflectance? Is there a better way to manage this?
Environment Dome Import
Post originally from Heimo Mooslechner
I have a 360° cam and I did some environment-Domes in Twinmotion or in Blender. When projecting the 360° image on the inside of the dome and it's big enough, it fits the "real environment to set your architecture in “real” places. I exported such a dome from Blender...
Error Exporting Revit Files with Plugin
Post originally from Arq. Gabriela Martinez
I’m trying to export a Revit file to Arkio for the first time and I’m having trouble. A message pops up saying: “There was an error while trying to run the Arkio Export command. Could not load type…” Anything I can do? Also, I’m working with linked files...
Unable to Change the Value When Editing a Side
Post originally from Henk Kraal
When using Arkio on Mac, I cannot change the size of a side to something specific. In VR you edit the side, click on the current size and a head-up numpad appears which you can use to input the correct numbers. On Mac, the same display appears but I seem to be unable to provide the correct input.
Error Message 'Failed to Export Model'
Post originally by John Tarkington
In Sketchup Pro 2022, I’m using the Arkio plugin to export files to Arkio. However, when in Sketchup and I select “Export to Arkio”, I get the error message “Failed to export model for unknown reason!” What am I missing?
Here to Where?!
Post by Chriss Roidt
This project explores how space is navigated in VR, how it is understood, and sometimes misunderstood. The path is designed to carefully constrain views through skewed model geometry and the flat shading, resulting in playful perspectives that perhaps should NOT be trusted.
Missing Material Mountain
Posted originally by see_borg
A path of bright red platforms leads to the top of a mountain with a hidden pond, peaking above the clouds. The atmosphere is so thin and harsh that the entire summit has been stripped of its texture, leaving just the PROTOTYPE 1x1 meter grid to remain.
