Placing and working with images
The most exciting and anticipated moment for anyone’s week has arrived, pro-tip Friday! This time around we are showing how you can incorporate images into your models. Whether you’re sketching over a site photo, modeling from a floor plan, or referencing a diagram, Arkio lets your design workflows be more visually intuitive.
Installed 1.9 and now it crashes on launch
@theredmage sorry for the delay in getting back to ya! We needed to pick at this edge condition a bit more, but a solution has (potentially) come to life
We are suspecting that the desktop version of Arkio you have might have been installed through the Meta Quest desktop app, which is not updating…
The investigation continues! Ah this helps a good deal and I think I know what the issue is, so put that Rift S back on the shelf. With the trial license it only supports 1 device running at a time. It is a floating license so you can assign it to multiple machines but it will boot you out if there are conflicting devices.
Could you also give me a sense of what your setup was? It would be good to know what devices you’re using (desktop, headset, etc) and how it’s running on your machine.
@theredmage could you do one thing, just for the sake of sanity? Could you uninstall and then reinstall Arkio? I’m wondering if there was a hiccup during the update process and some old libraries might not have been cleared properly.
@theredmage ohh good catch, I haven’t seen this issue on my machines but let me ping the team. Will report back asap!
Modeling w/ style using the MX Ink
Another Friday protip coming in for the crew! Here we are taking a look at how the new stylus feature works and how it brings the familiarity of pen and paper into Arkio.
Move and Rotate like a Pro!
Protip incoming! This time we went back to the basics of how to move and rotate an object
Importing .BIMX .FBX file? to use with Oculus 2
Hello and welcome to the community @Ripe ! Don’t forget to say hello
Jeez, that’s a tough file to jump into as a non-architect. ‘.bimx’ and ‘.fbx’ are not supported in Arkio, but it’s somewhat close. If you can convert those to ‘.obj’ or ‘.gltf’ you will be good to go!
Best approach for simple landscaping
@Colin_Jones welcome to the community and thank you! . Okay, so this is a bit of a tough one to explain since there are a few ways to approach modeling topography.
Both ways would work. One thing that is somewhat hidden is the green table can be edited like a regular Arkio geometry, so you could use it for more complex landscapes.
Working with Groups
Another Friday pro-tip ready for the community This time we are showing off the power of groups in Arkio!
Arkio in Education - LIVE Event
Last week’s event was great! It makes us so happy to see familiar faces and welcome new ones to the community. Shout out @Claudia for representing our the BAC and creator community
ICYMI - Here is a quick recap of what was shared during the event.
Digital Preservation in Volterra
Hey there arkitects! We got a new blog post to share with you, this time @dace tells the tale of his time in Volterra during the digital preservation workshop. From the strategic capturing of different site conditions to the creative workflows for consuming and experiencing
Cross-platform synchronisation
You can approach this a few ways, depending on how you want to approach the project. Arkio to Revit: You can start a scene in Arkio and send that scene to Revit and it will include anything you modeled within that scene. I’ve used this workflow when I like to setup a site model in Arkio to have it reflected within Revit.
